THE SOUND OF HOMELESS(NESS) AW 12/13
COLLECTION OF THE YEAR: MENSWEAR 2012 at London College of Fashion
THE SOUND OF HOMELESS(NESS) is Tina Elisabeth Reiter’s final collection for the Masters Degree Fashion Design & Technology: Menswear course at London College of Fashion.
With THE SOUND OF HOMELESS(NESS) at MA_12 exhibition and the POEMTRY catwalk show at the V&A, Tina was presented the Menswear Collection of the Year award.
Initially inspired by a feeling of homelessness and its current definition of belonging-to or not belonging-to a place, the collection came to express the for search for one’s roots in in an unpredictable globalised world.
At the heart of the collection is Tina’s own Austrian heritage, nourished by the wish for an ideal world forever connected with the myth of the Alps, the kitschy homeland movies of the Austrian postwar years, and the world famous musical ‘The Sound of Music.’
Tina fuses the rich tradition of Austrian folk costume with the aesthetics of modern menswear. By extracting traditional techniques and silhouettes and refitting them into a contemporary context, Reiter creates a unique way of staying true to her own roots.
